New Firmware Version for FXM 1100: 1.08.03 - Bulk Charging

Firmware version 1.08.03 for the Alpha FXM 1100 UPS Module has been released. It can be easily downloaded in the "Software Downloads" portal of www.alpha.ca/downloads under 'Outdoor UPS Power'. There is no charge for this download but you will need to login (or register for a password) to access the Software Download portal.

Firmware version 1.08.03 is to be used only on new hardware versions of FXM 1100
How to differentiate between old and new hardware versions of FXM 1100:
Update the firmware of your FXM 1100 if any of the following is true:
- Your FXM 1100 has a blue LCD
- Your FXM 1100 has firmware version 1.07 or 1.08 that ends in 0x. For example: 1.08.01
Do NOT update the firmware of your FXM 1100 if any of the following is true:
- Your FXM 1100 has a green LCD
- Your FXM 1100 has firmware version 1.06 or earlier
Your FXM 1100 has firmware version 1.07 or 1.08 that ends in 7x. For example: 1.08.71
NOTE: Before updating the firmware on your FXM unit, make sure you are running the latest firmware version of your FXM Ethernet card. Check our software downloads section at www.alpha.ca/downloads
Description:
With this new version, in addition to the Standard Charging Algorithm designed to charge lead acid batteries, the FXM 1100 now has the option to change the charging algorithm to Bulk Charging. Bulk Charging has been specifically developed to provide flexibility to the user to charge other types of batteries such as Nickel Cadmium (NiCd), Lithium Ion (Li Ion) or other custom types. Bulk Charging provides the user with the flexibility to adjust many of the parameters of charging, such as Absorption Voltage, Float Voltage, Max Charge current and Temperature compensation.
Warning:
Bulk Charging must be used only by advanced users who thoroughly understand battery operations. Even for advanced users, we recommend to consult the battery manufacturer before finalizing the settings.
